Who Else Wants To Know About A Child Behavior Chart?
Most parents have considered a child behavior chart at one point or another. We love our children, and we wouldn’t trade them for the world, but there are moments when we feel like pulling our hair out and giving up. The worst thing any parent can do is give up, as your child’s future depends on you being tough and guiding them in the right direction. Sometimes, it helps if you show your child how to be accountable for what they do.
There are many different types of child behavior chart that you can use. A friend recently told me that she started one just to show our daughter how often she was acting up. This child behavior chart was very simple. There was one section for grumpy faces and one section for smiley faces. When her daughter was being grumpy or throwing a fit, she would put a grumpy face sticker on the chart. When she was being good, using her manners, or showing that she was containing her temper, she got a smiley face sticker. Within a matter of days her daughter was much calmer and much more well behaved.
A child behavior chart might also be used to show a child that even though they feel like they are always getting into trouble, their days are better than they may think. Some children have a natural tendency to get in as much trouble as they possibly can, and they do this to test the limits of their parents. A child behavior chart that measures this type of behavior might show a child that the parent is indeed watching, and that their bad behavior is not getting them anywhere. This might not always work, but is definitely worth a try if you’re having problems with your child.
When you put together a child behavior chart, make sure there is room to show good behavior. Many parents focus on bad behaviors and traits, and this shows the child that that is what gets them attention. You may even want to start a child behavior chart that is only for the good moments. This will show a child that good behavior is rewarded, and their bad behavior is not even worth mentioning. You should also keep this in mind when you’re disciplining your children. While you have to correct them when they are using bad behaviors, it is just as important to praise them when they are doing well.
